"We couldn't open that location. It might not exist or you might not have permission to open it." error when opening Notebook

I've had several OneNote notebooks for years.

This morning, only the ones hosted on OneDrive failed synchronization.

Following other support tips for the initial error 0x80072EFD I re-started my Surface Pro, switched connections, and closed the notebook.

None of these had any effect, and I cannot sync the notebooks on other machines.

I also tried removing certificates as described here: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/office/en-US/29176a20-2e5c-421a-b314-cb8e5c7a150c/onenote-doesnt-recognize-internet-connection-unable-to-sync?forum=officeitpro

I can still open and edit the documents via OneDrive's web access, but I get the error in the title of this post if I try to open with OneNote.

How can I restore access to my notebooks and get them to sync?

Hi,

Please try to clear the OneNote cache and test again. To do this, please follow:

1. Navigate to C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\OneNote\15.0

2. Find the file named "OneNoteOfflineCache.onecache" and rename it to OneNoteOfflineCache.onecache.old.

3. Restart your OneNote and test again.

Please let me know the result.

Steve,

I am having the same issue on my OneNote books stored on OneDrive in ODFB (OneDrive For Business).  I don't have this issue with my OneNote notebooks stored on OneDrive (Personal).  The cache clearing did not help.  Any other ideas?
